Automated download of production accounting data from
the Petroleum Registry of Alberta
In the past, Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and emission
intensities have been reported on an annual basis, for
emissions that occurred in the previous year. While
this has until recently been sufficient, oil and gas
companies are now faced with new challenges that require
them to start managing their emissions on a more regular
basis. In order to truly "manage" air emissions,
companies must have access to more current emissions
information. This would be virtually impossible to
achieve if they were to manually gather their facility and
production data, and then perform all the necessary
calculations. Much of the data required to determine
emissions and intensities originate from production
information that is reported to the government. In
Alberta, this information is reported by oil and gas
companies to the Petroleum Registry of Alberta on a monthly
basis.
Petroleum Registry Connect™ saves oil and gas companies
time and money by automating the download of
production accounting data from the Petroleum Registry of
Alberta into Emission Manager™ (except EM Lite™). The downloaded data can then
be used to calculate and track emissions and emissions
intensities for Alberta facilities on a monthly basis.
Generation of monthly emissions information allows
companies, for the first time, to conduct trend analysis,
plan and implement emission reduction strategies, and
monitor the effectiveness of their reduction initiatives.
Production Accounting Connect™
Automated download of production accounting data from
production accounting systems
For facilities located outside the province of Alberta,
production accounting information resides within oil and gas
companies' production accounting systems.
Production Accounting Connect™ saves oil and gas
companies time and money by automating the download of
production accounting data (for their non-Alberta
facilities) from industry standard production accounting
systems such as Qbyte, Triangle, Prism, into Emission
Manager™ (except EM Lite™). The downloaded
data can then be used to calculate and track emissions and
emission intensities on a monthly basis for facilities
located outside the province of Alberta.
NPRI Connect™
Automated upload of NPRI information to Environment
Canada's database, i.e. OWNERS
This utility was developed by Envirosoft, for the
purposes of uploading emissions and other critical facility
information to Environment Canada’s web-based reporting
system, OWNERS (One-Window National Emissions Reporting
System).
In 2007, Envirosoft uploaded NPRI emissions information
for approximately 850 facilities from its various clients
using this utility. These facilities represented
approximately 10% of the total number of reporting
facilities in Canada in 2007, and approximately 25% of the
reporting facilities in the upstream oil and gas sector.
