Greenhouse Gases (GHGs)

Greenhouse gases (GHGs) are gases in the atmosphere that trap energy from the sun.  Naturally occurring GHGs include water vapour, ozone, carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O).  While these are naturally occurring gases, there are serious concerns regarding the enhanced effect on climate because of increased levels of some of these gases in the atmosphere, mainly due to human activities.

Criteria Air Contaminants (CACs)

Criteria air contaminants (CACs) are air pollutants, including sulphur dioxide (SO2), oxides of nitrogen (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), volatile organic compounds (VOC), and particulate matter (PMT, PM10, and PM2.5).
