According to new market survey, job opportunities are poised for growth in the emerging Canadian Methane services industry.
In response to the recent provincial and federal government announcements targeting significant methane reductions from the oil and gas industry, companies will need to prepare a more accurate baseline of their current methane emissions. While doing so, one of the areas where companies will need to spend more time relates to fuel gas that is used in the field and at wellsites to drive pneumatic devices (e.g. controllers) and chemical injection pumps.
With the recent announcements from both the provincial and federal governments for targeting significant methane reductions from the oil and gas industry, increased scrutiny will be placed upon the accuracy of current methane inventories.
As part of the recent announcement of Alberta’s Climate Leadership Plan, the provincial government has committed to a 45% reduction in methane emissions from the oil and gas industry by 2025.
