New Saskatchewan Regulations affecting the oil and gas industry

New Saskatchewan Regulations affecting the oil and gas industry

Saskatchewan EPAP and Directive PNG017: Measurement Requirements for Oil and Gas Operations came into effect on April 1, 2016.

In early 2014, the SK Ministry of the Economy (ECON) decided to implement changes to their Oil and Gas Measurement Reporting requirements, with the goal to harmonize measurement requirements across jurisdictions. Plans were also created for ECON to implement the Enhanced Production Audit Program (EPAP) currently used in Alberta. Regulatory enforcement of the new measurement requirements will be phased-in over the next four years. As for EPAP, ECON is encouraging operators to submit trial declarations until Nov. 30, 2016, and will require submission of enforceable declarations starting in 2017.
